Rosfors Bruk nature reserve
Rosfors is an old mill environment that is like a bright, green oasis, surrounded by dark coniferous forests.
Unique history
In the early 1830s it was discovered that there was iron ore in the bedrock in Rosfors. In 1838, 15 farmers and workers from the area started a mining company. In the beginning, the mill only produced pig iron. Over time, a foundry and mechanical workshop were added, so they could make pots, pans, iron stoves and more. A saw and a mill were built so that the mill would be self-sufficient in lumber and flour. The mill was operated right up until 1940. Then the sawmill and the dam were destroyed in a landslide. The blast furnace has been reconstructed, but of the cabin, the forge, the coal house and the saw, only the foundations and foundations remain.
A living agricultural landscape
Around the mill there were good fields and pastures that were used for the mill's animals. Even today, the valley is a living agricultural landscape with pastures and mowing fields. On the farmland, the barns stand together four by four. The grouping is unusual for the county.
