The island belongs to Västerbotten and is situated in the outer archipelago of the Gulf of Bothnia outside Kinnbäcks village, about 50 km north of Skellefteå and about 30km south of Piteå. Today Pite Rönnskär is a summer paradise with an interesting history as a fishing village, pilot station and lighthouse. 

In the summer season you can find a hostel and a café.
