Now you can see Verdi's grand opera from the Metropolitan in New York in cinemas in Sweden. Live at the cinema and Studio Acusticum on January 25.
Set in ancient Egypt and a performance filled with magnificent choruses, this opera is based on an intimate love story. Few operas have matched Aida in its exploration of the conflict between private feelings and public duty, and perhaps none has been so unanimously acclaimed by both audiences and critics to this day. Aida premiered at the Khedivial Opera House in Cairo in 1871. American soprano Angel Blue stars as the Ethiopian princess torn between love and motherland in a new production of Verdi's Aida by Michael Mayer. It transports audiences into the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animations. The Romanian-Hungarian mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi plays Aida's rival, Amneris, together with the Polish tenor Piotr Beczała as the soldier Radamès – thus completing the opera's greatest love triangle. Met Principal Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will take the baton for the Jan. 25 performance, which will be broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera's stage to movie theaters worldwide.

Arctic Light celebrates 20 years as a vocal ensemble with the colorful and emotional anniversary concert Circles and Reflections. For two decades, Arctic Light - the choir for girls aged 16-25 - has brightened our musical lives with their sets and their music. To celebrate the first 20 years, the performance Circles and Reflections is now presented - where the ensemble remembers the past but at the same time looks towards the future. - The idea of this anniversary concert is to close the circle a little and reflect what we have done during these years. It becomes like a simple reflection, says the composer, choir director and artistic director Susanna Lindmark. It was she who founded Arctic Light in 2004 with the main aim of raising the strength of female artistic practitioners and making visible the potential and power of the young choir members. But she also wanted to make Norrbotten visible, which she has taken note of in the music she creates for the choir, as well as in expressions, choreography, costumes and sets. Arctic Light's unique sound and artistic expression can be described as shimmering and clear, but also powerful and emotional. One of the choir's signature pieces is Aurora Borealis, the first piece Susanna Lindmark wrote. It will of course be performed during the anniversary concert. But new music is also on offer. Partly from the Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen and his Spirits of Winter, partly from the Scanian composer Linda Alexandersson and her Three Sisters. In addition, Susanna Lindmark has composed two new works for the anniversary – Circles and reflections and September morning in Gerggevagge. - The music I have written has its roots in Norrbotten and our part of the world. Then I think of natural phenomena such as the midnight sun, the northern lights, natural scenes and landscape images. It is a core of the concert. But Arctic Light has also always had a folk musical tone from other parts of the world. That will be the case this time too, with music from the Middle East and India, among other things, says Susanna. The concert will consist of two acts, with an intermission in the middle. Performers are the 21 current choir members, but during some selected pieces they will also be joined on stage by around thirty former members. In addition, the choir is supported by four musicians. - I am very proud and happy about all the fantastic meetings during these 20 years, all the experiences, scenic projects and the driving art that we have created. It has been an incredibly exciting journey, that as a leader getting to see each individual develop and grow both musically, personally and socially is a favour. I also think it is important that there are still forums for young girls where you can grow strong from the inside out, through the artistic, says Susanna Lindmark.
The anniversary concert Circles and Reflections will be performed at Studio Acusticum on March 25 in 2025, but the plan is then a tour around Norrbotten in 2025.Studio Acusticum, Stora salenContactinfo@studioacusticum.comSaturday 12 April

After a five-year hiatus, Henrik Schyffert returned to the standup scene in 2024 with his new tour Schyffert Forever. It was a edgy comeback to stand-up's original form, sprung from the same desire that once upon a time made Henrik take the first steps onto the stages of comedy clubs. Dagens Nyheter wrote international top class, Gefle Dagblad said that the audience (has) never been allowed to get this close to Henrik Schyffert and UNT described Henrik as absolutely brilliant and gave a 5/5 rating. The public success is now being extended with a spring tour in 2025. On April 12, Henrik will come to Acusticum in Piteå!
Somewhat unexpectedly, you can say that the new standup tour Schyffert Forever is coming off thanks to Iggy Pop.
- I hadn't done standup for five years and sat on the train listening to old Iggy Pop - Lust for Life, 1969, The Passenger. Then it struck me that this is how you can also do standup. Just fun and happy and simple. So it will be old school this time! says Henrik Schyffert.
In Schyffert Forever, Henrik tries to figure out why he's so jealous of Bianca Ingrosso, hates first-time parents, and how he became a citizen when he realized you can get ALL the ice cream by yourself! And then there are jokes about, among other things, top hats, Bakelite speakers, girl text messages and the art of lying like a Vassalope skier.
- It's hard to make a simple joke and the simpler the joke, the harder it is, believe it or not. But the kick when you manage to come up with a simple joke that makes the whole room laugh in unison is priceless. And I've really missed trying to get it done again, says Henrik.
Schyffert Forever premiered on January 13, 2024 at the Gävle Concert Hall and has been played in over 40 different cities around Sweden and the neighboring countries of Finland and Norway. In the spring of 2025, the tour will be extended with cities such as Falkenberg, Bollnäs and Visby.Studio Acusticum, Stora salenContactinfo@studioacusticum.comSaturday 26 April

On April 26, this timeless comedy returns to theaters worldwide with a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera. The Marriage of Figaro is a meeting between Mozart's musical highlights and one of the best librettos ever created. Adapting a play that created a scandal with its revolutionary approach to 18th-century society, librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte focused less on the original references and more on the timeless issues embedded in everyday comedy. The Marriage of Figaro premiered at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1786.
Conductor Joana Mallwitz makes her Met debut and takes the baton to lead a brilliant ensemble. The American bass-baritone Michael Sumuel is the sly servant Figaro and the Ukrainian soprano Olga Kulchynska the cunning servant Susanna. Canadian baritone Joshua Hopkins the womanizing count, Italian soprano Federica Lombardi his tormented wife and French mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa the young page Cherubino.

The Metropolitan's music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will take the conductor's baton on May 17 to lead this one-act play, which will be broadcast live in cinemas in Sweden.
At the helm of the Met's first new production of Salome in 20 years, we have Claus Guth, one of Europe's leading opera directors, placing the biblical story in a psychologically astute Victorian setting. This powerful opera derives from a biblical story: a young princess from Judea dances for her stepfather Herod and chooses as a reward the head of the prophet John the Baptist. This theme attracted the imaginations of many artists, but was perhaps best realized in Oscar Wilde's tragedy of 1891. Strauss's score combines the grandeur of Wagner's epic works with the focus and emotional power of the short Italian verismo operas. Salome premiered at the Dresden Court Opera in 1905.
South African soprano Elza van den Heever stars as the unbalanced anti-heroine Salome, with Swedish baritone Peter Mattei as the imprisoned prophet Jochanaan. German tenor Gerhard Siegel is Salome's unpleasant stepfather King Herod, American mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung plays his wife Herodias, and Polish tenor Piotr Buszewski is Narraboth.

Young opera star Aigul Akhmetshina stars in the live broadcast from the MET on 31 May.
Rossini's well-honed treasure survived a notoriously disastrous opening night in 1816 to become what is perhaps the world's most popular comic opera. The lively humor and elegant melodies have delighted audiences of every generation for two centuries. Several of opera's most recognizable melodies have become a large part of the opera world. The Barber of Seville premiered at the Teatro Argentina in Rome in 1816. Russian mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina stars as the temperamental heroine Rosina alongside American tenor Jack Swanson as her secret lover Count Almaviva. Moldavian baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky plays Figaro, the genial barber from Seville, with Hungarian bass-baritone Peter Kálmán as Dr. Bartolo. Russian bass Alexander Vinogradov is Don Basilio, completing the main ensemble. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts Bartlett Sher's wild production.

He's been called one of the best, a great showman and so skilled it's impossible not to love his standup. Now the audience favorite Carl Stanley is celebrating ten years as a stand-up comedian with his new solo performance Excuse me Skånska. It will be a stand-up show with humor from the heart, about, among other things, deer, children, jeans, marriage, a theft and becoming an adult for real.
- This is going to be so much fun! When I started standup ten years ago, my goal was to do a solo tour during my career. It feels completely crazy that I am now on my way out on my fourth! It's more than I ever dared to hope for. But now I feel a bit more seasoned and think I'm a better comedian than ever, says Carl Stanley.
Previously, Carl went on the tours Ärligt Talat (2017), Born 1996 (2019-2020) and Akta Huet (2022-2023).
Ursäkta Min Skånska premieres at Lund's city theater on 28/2.
The duration of the performance is approx. 75 minutes without intermission. No age limit, but the show is recommended for ages 16 and up.

Tingsek, or Magnus Tingsek, has since his debut as a 27-year-old released seven albums that combine elements of gospel, soul, jazz and Swedish lyric. His latest album, Home, opens with the rhythmic sound of a Scanian pigeon and reflects his journey towards finding home, both geographically and spiritually. The lead track "Family" expresses his deep love for family and captures a feeling of warmth and closeness.
After a celebrated participation in Norrbotten Big Band's annual concert Soulful December 2019, a continued collaboration has been long-awaited. Now Tingsek's unique sound is combined with the big band's energy in a project where the music has been arranged by, among others, Norrbotten Big Band's artistic director, Joakim Milder.
We are very much looking forward to the collaboration with Tingsek, also because it is an obvious part of Norrbotten Big Band's idea of the organic music scene - where creative, creative meetings can grow, continue and deepen, says Joakim.
Don't miss the chance to experience this exciting meeting between Tingsek's soulful melodies and Norrbotten Big Band's powerful arrangements. An evening where musical worlds come together and create something new and unforgettable.
