Karmen Rõivassepp meets Norrbotten Big Band

Every season, Norrbotten Big Band takes the step into the new by collaborating with a prominent composer. The goal? To create unique and developing material that both challenges and inspires the band's musicians and audience. This year, the choice is one of the jazz world's most exciting voices - Karmen Rõivassepp.
 

It's about paving the way for new ways of thinking and creating something really exciting together with the musicians, says the big band's artistic director, Joakim Milder.
 

Karmen Rõivassepp, an Estonian singer, composer and arranger, has already made a strong impression on the Scandinavian jazz scene.
 

Before the project, Karmen and the orchestra meet on three occasions to develop ideas and create music that makes both the collective and the individual grow. For Karmen, this is a dream opportunity: - To be able to work with an orchestra like this and in this way is a dream for any artist, she says.
