The High Society comes to Festspelen and Celebrates Sammy Davis Jr- 100 years! An evening of tuxedos, turns and obvious hits!

 

The High Society is a unique musical experience that unites three of Sweden's most prominent artists in Swedish musical and performing arts; Rennie Mirro, Karl Dyall and Joachim Bergström.  The trio are without a doubt, each one of our foremost in Swedish showbiz, known for their versatility as dancers, actors and singers, with broad experience in jazz, soul, ballet, street, opera, theater and musicals, their entertainment reputation is endless. With a repertoire that ranges from timeless classics to modern blockbuster hits, they create a dynamic and engaging experience that captivates the audience and leaves a lasting impression.
 

Back in 2012, Rennie Mirro and Karl Dyall did the legendary show From Sammy with love which became a huge success, loved and celebrated by both audience and press with a grand finale at the very Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. The High Society now wants to pay tribute to this iconic entertainer with a string of his greatest hits. We want to share all the fantastic stories we've heard about Sammy Davis Jr, but also tell you what he has meant to us on a personal level, say Rennie Mirro, Karl Dyall and Joachim Bergström.

 

Sammy Davis Jr. (1925-1990) was one of the world's greatest entertainers and was called Mister Show Business and Mr Entertainment. He was a singer, dancer, actor and comedian, the superstar of the entertainment world. He was the star of shows on Broadway, in Las Vegas and in London's West End, appeared in numerous television shows and Hollywood films. All this during a time in the United States that was characterized by segregation and discrimination against blacks. His artistry paved the way for other black artists and musicians. He was best friends with Frank Sinatra and created a big scandal when he married May Britt Wilkens from Stockholm. But despite all his success, he always felt left out.
