Baroque Kaleidoscope - Organ Concerto Lars Sjöstedt
In Norrfjärden Church there is a replica of a baroque organ from the 17th century that originally existed in the German Church in Stockholm. That organ still exists and was restored in Tornedalen: the main body in Övertorneå and the back positive in Hietaniemi. The organ's mean-tempered tuning is excellent for repertoire from all over Europe written before Johann Sebastian Bach. The organ is often used in teaching and concerts by students and teachers. Lars Sjöstedt will give a concert on this organ on Friday evening.
Lars Sjöstedt's concert focuses on music by Sweelinck and his students, including Scheidt, Scheidemann, and the Düben brothers. The Düben brothers were crucial for the development of organ art in Sweden because they copied and preserved the repertoire of the North German composers for the future.
