Festspelen i Piteå - Chris Gera

Cris Gera has been in the music industry since childhood and has released three albums and several singles in his native Zimbabwe. His specialty is Afro-jazz and Afro-pop, but Cris also plays traditional Zimbabwean music and gospel. In 2016, his life changed when he received threats after writing a song about the situation with high unemployment and corruption in Zimbabwe.

 

The situation became so serious that Cris had to flee for his life, while his wife and two sons stayed behind. Today, Cris lives in Piteå, where he is happily reunited with his family. In 2018, his single Piteå för alla – Cris’ låt was released to pay tribute to the city that welcomed him. The song became the Song of the Week on Sveriges Radio P4 Norrbotten.. With my music, I want to celebrate the differences between us humans and create a dialogue between the audience and me as an artist.

 

At the concert, he accompanies himself on the piano in a mixed program with his own and other people's songs.
