This is what Piteå Municipality is doing
Northvolt's layoffs do not only affect Skellefteå. Piteå Municipality will therefore actively work to support both Piteå residents and others who are or risk being laid off, as well as companies affected by the layoffs or in need of recruitment.
An internal working group has been formed to handle issues that may arise due to the layoffs. The group consists of Municipal Councilor Patric Lundström, Acting Municipal Manager Leif Wikman, and representatives from the following departments, who can contribute to the efforts in various ways: Adult Education, the Business Development Department, the Communications Department, the Relocation Service "Move to Piteå," and the Sustainable Growth Department.
The purposes of the group are to:
- Continuously and thoroughly monitor developments in Skellefteå and at Northvolt
- Share information within the group and with other concerned parties
- Ensure that Piteå Municipality is fully prepared to support Skellefteå with future measures
- Ensure that Piteå residents who may be affected by unemployment receive the best possible support from the municipality
- Act to ensure that individuals who have moved to Skellefteå from other countries and risk being laid off have the opportunity to settle and/or work in our region
We will be at Meet and Match
At the Meet and Match events in Skellefteå, held on October 25 and November 4, 18, and 19, representatives from Adult Education, the Business Development Department, and Sustainable Growth will participate to inform both individuals who are or risk being laid off and companies affected or in need of recruitment.
