Piteå is located on the coast of the Bay of Bothnia, roughly 900 kilometers north of Stockholm and 100 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle. The population is roughly 41,000 people in the municipality, which is known for its friendly atmosphere. Piteå is a strong business- and conference town with many events that attract both locals and visitors.
Piteå is a safe small town with the possibilities of a city. You can make a career here and still live a good life, without the stress and traffic jams. The houses are inexpensive and we are especially proud of our childcare, schools and elderly care.
During the summer months the population swells in numbers. People come here to enjoy the 24-hour daylight, the beaches, the back to back events, the forests, the countryside and the culture. In the beginning of July children and young people from all over the world play football 24-7 as Piteå Summer Games dominates the town. One of Sweden's largest street festivals, Piteå Dances and Smiles, is also held here, as well as the music week, Festspelen i Piteå.
