Activities and Leisure
In Svensbyn, there are activities for almost everyone. You will find Piteå's incredibly delightful and famous ski slope, Lindbäcksstadion, in Svensbyn. The slope is suitable for both adults and children, and you have access to three fine downhill slopes, a café/restaurant, a toboggan run, and cross-country skiing trails. The EFS prayer house is a gathering place for the village where events like "paltlunch" and "Friday waffles" are organized in conjunction with church services. The EFS prayer house also offers a children's choir and "himlakul" for children aged 6–9. For those interested in sports, there are ample opportunities to indulge your interests. Svensbyn has well-maintained football pitches and an ice rink. If you would like to join a football team or a cross-country skiing group, Svensbyn SK is available for both ladies and gentlemen. You'll also find a newly constructed and cool adventure playground with skate ramps, a volleyball court, and an obstacle course – every child's dream! Svensbyn boasts three small forest ponds, with the largest named Vitsjön. Here, you can fish for grayling, trout, rainbow trout, and Arctic char. There's also a trail around the lake with a nice path. Casting bridges, fireplaces, a grill hut, outdoor toilets, and caravan sites for rent can also be found at Vitsjön.
Svensbylijda
"Wonderful environment, tasty coffee, helpful staff, and a beloved excursion destination," was the comment from a visitor to Svensbylijda after a day there. Svensbylijda is a well-known destination for all Piteå residents, and it's a place tourists often choose to visit in Piteå. Svensbylijda is a wonderful and delightful excursion spot for both young and old! You can relive Svensbyn in the 1670's through the cultural Tuesdays held throughout July. During these events, you can try carding wool, baking soft cakes, grinding flour, washing rag rugs, and riding in a horse-drawn carriage. At Svensbylijda, you can stroll through the lovely surroundings, explore the fine buildings and the museum, observe Swedish animals in the enclosures, have a coffee in the cozy café, or bring your own picnic basket and sit on a blanket in the beautiful courtyard during the summer. Svensbylijda also offers various events during the summer, such as Midsummer celebrations and organized lunches.
Celebrities connected to Svensbyn
Two of the most successful biathletes right now are sisters Hanna Öberg and Elvira Öberg. Both grew up in Svensbyn. They started their careers on the biathlon track in Svensbyn, which their father built and inaugurated in 2008. Talent show winner Micke Holm has also lived in Svensbyn for a significant part of his life, and of course, there is a reason for that! Svensbyn is the perfect place to live if you want a quiet life, close to nature, and a strong sense of community!
